Battle-tested conservative and small businessman ready to fight again for Louisiana families.
New Iberia, LA—Republican State Representative Blake Miguez announced today that he will be a candidate for Senate District 22 in the October 14th election. Senator Fred Mills is term-limited and cannot seek reelection.
“Louisiana is at a pivotal point and the next four years will determine whether we succeed or fail her people. It will take proven conservative leaders with the vision and backbone to ensure we get it right for future generations. That’s been my number one goal as a servant leader and I’m ready to take my record of fighting for our families, our freedom, and our values to the State Senate,” said Miguez.
Miguez is a distinguished legislator, commended by organizations such as the Louisiana Family Forum, the Louisiana Association of Business & Industry, and the National Rifle Association (NRA) for his relentless efforts to safeguard taxpayers, ensure government accountability, and uphold the Constitution. Further, Blake has received accolades from the American Conservative Union, the Louisiana Shooting Association, and the National Shooting Sports Foundation. Elected by his peers as Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Miguez has been a prominent conservative voice in Baton Rouge, contributing to crucial policy discussions that will shape Louisiana’s course in the years to come.
Miguez is a passionate competitive shooter and staunch advocate for constitutional carry rights. Recently, he placed fifth in the world and secured a silver medal with Team USA in the Standard Division at the 2022 IPSC World Shoot in Thailand. He also proved his shooting prowess during his appearance on The History Channel's Top Shot TV series and competition. "My experience as a top sport shooter demonstrates my unwavering commitment to protecting our Second Amendment rights," Miguez asserted.
Blake also owns a small business in the oil and gas industry. “As a small business owner, I understand the challenges that our businesses face daily. Our hardworking men and women need to know that there is someone who understands their needs and is fighting in their corner,” said Miguez.
This past Friday, more than 1,200 people attended Blake’s campaign kickoff, demonstrating strong support for his candidacy and vision for Louisiana.
From fighting government overreach during the COVID-19 pandemic to securing funding for some of the region’s most critical infrastructure projects, Miguez has delivered results for the Acadiana region to help keep the economy strong during the recent downturn.
Blake is a fiscal conservative, pro-life, and a proponent of strong family values. These core beliefs have guided his decisionmaking in the State House and will continue to do so in the State Senate.
Born and raised in Loreauville near the St. Martin-Iberia Parish line, Miguez has strong ties to the region. A graduate of Catholic High School, he later earned his undergraduate degree from LSU and a Juris Doctorate from Southern University. Blake is happily married to Ashley, a dedicated public school special needs teacher. Together, they have three children and currently reside in New Iberia, further cementing their connection to the community.
Louisiana State Senate District 22 includes parts of Iberia, St. Martin, and Lafayette Parishes.
