MIGUEZ: Constitutional Carry a "Fundamental Right"

Sen. Blake Miguez had this to say after passage of his historic 2nd Amendment bill regarding carrying of firearms last week:

This past week marks a historic bi-partisan victory for the people of Louisiana as the House passed SB1, the “Constitutional Carry” bill with overwhelming support. Grateful to my colleagues in both chambers and across the aisle for backing this fundamental right. Eagerly awaiting Governor Jeff Landry's signature to officially make Louisiana the 28th state to embrace permitless carry. This is a testament to our commitment to the Second Amendment and the right of law-abiding citizens to protect themselves and their families without undue government interference.

CONSTITUTIONAL CARRY PASSES IN LOUISIANA

Freedom to lawfully exercise your 2nd Amendment rights is headed to the governor’s desk for signature

BATON ROUGE—The Louisiana Freedom Caucus (LAFC) is proud to announce that SB1, authored by LAFC founding member Sen. Blake Miguez, is headed to Governor Jeff Landry’s desk for signature. The bill passed the House today with bipartisan support after clearing the Senate with the unanimous support of Republicans last week. The bill allows for law-abiding citizens over the age of 18 to exercise their 2nd Amendment rights in Louisiana. It also leaves the concealed carry permit structure in place for those desirous of obtaining reciprocity with participating states.

“With crime running rampant in Louisiana, Republicans in the legislature have taken action. Governor Jeff Landry will sign the bill into law, and it will go into effect on the 4th of July this year, in honor of our nation’s Independence Day. We are again empowering law-abiding American citizens with the means to protect themselves and their families from violent criminals. No more begging the government for permission to protect what’s ours in Louisiana,” said Sen. Blake Miguez, founding member of the Louisiana Freedom Caucus.

“It is always a great day when the principles of liberty and freedom are honored. Today is such a day. The Louisiana legislature has voted to send a Constitutional Carry bill to the Governor’s desk for signature that will allow law-abiding citizens the freedom to carry weapons to defend themselves and their families in these perilous times. A new day is dawning in Louisiana! We are working right now in the legislature to arrest the violent crime that is permeating our cities and state through tougher measures against criminals, and also by safeguarding these vital liberties for the law abiding,” said Beryl Amedée, Chairman of the Louisiana Freedom Caucus.

“For years I have been fighting for Constitutional Carry in Louisiana, and the day has finally arrived. Our state legislature, both House and Senate, have passed a clean Constitutional Carry bill and it is on its way to Governor Jeff Landry’s desk for signature! This legislation recognizes the God-given right articulated in the 2nd Amendment and ensures that our law-abiding citizens can exercise their right to keep and bear arms without unnecessary bureaucratic hurdles,” said Danny McCormick, founding member of the Louisiana Freedom Caucus.

Sen. Blake Miguez: Embracing constitutional carry for a safer Louisiana

In Louisiana, where crime rates have placed three of our cities among the nation's most dangerous, the call for effective self-defense measures has never been louder. Gov. Jeff Landry has highlighted crime as a pressing issue, necessitating our immediate action to empower law-abiding citizens.

The case for constitutional carry in our state is clear: Individuals shouldn't need governmental permission to protect themselves and their loved ones. Neighboring states such as Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Missouri and Kentucky already recognize this right, underscoring that self-defense is a fundamental liberty, not a bureaucratic privilege.

Senate District 22: Blake Miguez Unmasks Hugh Andre's Residency Deception!

In a tense debate, Blake Miguez stunned the audience by revealing that Hugh Andre doesn't even live in the district he aims to represent. Miguez asked, "Why don’t you love Senate District 22?" as Andre struggled to respond, creating instant tension. How can a candidate authentically represent a community when they don't even live among its people? The moment was captured on tape, immortalizing Andre's stunning lack of credibility. This was not just a debate; it was an unmasking, leaving voters questioning: if Hugh Andre can't even commit to living in the district, can he be trusted to represent it?

LOUISIANA FAMILY FORUM: LFF Releases 2023 Legislative Scorecard

Louisiana Family Forum (LFF) has released its 2023 Legislative Scorecard, surveying votes cast during the 2023 Regular Session of the Legislature as well as the Veto Override Session.

This year, LFF evaluated support or opposition for: religious and personal liberty, the protection of children against sexual politics, experimental and harmful “gender-care,” election integrity, school choice and busting the expenditure cap.

Eighteen (18) representatives earned the Outstanding Family Advocate Award by scoring 100 percent on LFF’s Scorecard. These legislators will receive LFF’s esteemed Patrick Henry Award at the LFF 2023 Legislative Annual Gala planned for Thursday, September 28th, at Healing Place Church Arena in Baton Rouge. Additionally, 67 lawmakers will be honored with the Family Advocate Award for scoring 80-99 percent on LFF’s Scorecard.

Ten lawmakers earned the prestigious Life and Liberty Award for authorship of key new laws:

Blake Miguez - A Resounding Voice for Louisiana at the 2023 LFRW "The Main Event" Fundraiser

The 2023 Louisiana Federation of Republican Women (LFRW) fundraiser was phenomenal, bringing together notable conservatives for an evening of inspiration, dedication, and powerful speeches. A standout was none other than Blake Miguez, who attended the event not only as a sponsor but as a dedicated candidate running for State Senator in District 22.

Blake's presence at the event was a testament to his staunch support for the Republican party. He began by acknowledging the immense efforts of the Republican women across the state, who work tirelessly to preserve and protect our conservative values. As the largest volunteer women's political organization in Louisiana, the LFRW continues to be a beacon of conservative principles, a fact Miguez proudly emphasized.

In an emotional moment, Miguez thanked his wife Ashley, a special needs public school teacher who he referred to as his support system. He acknowledged her sacrifices, allowing him to pursue his political ambitions while she shapes the minds of our future generations. It is this personal touch that separates Blake from many others - his ability to connect on an intimate level with the people he serves.

Throughout his speech, Miguez made it clear he is committed to fighting against the liberal indoctrination infiltrating our education system. His commitment to preserving the sanctity of women's sports, protecting our children, and prioritizing education over political propaganda underscored his conservative beliefs.

Miguez has already proven himself a powerful conservative force in Baton Rouge. He has defended the sanctity of life in the womb, protected our rights to bear arms, and prioritized creating job opportunities to prevent our young people from moving out of state. As a Republican Leader of the House, he helped build a super-majority of Republicans in the legislature - a first in Louisiana history.

Miguez ended his speech on a note of unity and hope, expressing his commitment to work alongside our new Republican Governor to make Louisiana a state that we can all be proud to call home. His speech was a powerful call to arms, inviting all conservatives to join him in his quest to make Louisiana great.

It was clear from the 2023 LFRW fundraiser that Blake Miguez is ready and willing to serve Louisiana with the same passion and dedication he has demonstrated in his political career so far. His conservative values, strong leadership, and commitment to the people of Louisiana make him a candidate to watch in the upcoming 2023 Elections.

God bless Blake Miguez, and God bless the Great State of Louisiana.

Chaotic End to Regular Session in Baton Rouge

With four minutes to spare before the Louisiana Legislature's final deadline to pass bills, lawmakers approved a sweeping spending package Thursday in a series of chaotic votes marked by angry yelling at the House Speaker, confusion in the Senate and accusations of backdoor deal-making.

The approximately $45 billion bundle approved Thursday includes the state's main spending bill, a budget for major construction projects and a supplemental spending measure dealing with a $2.2 billion glut of extra cash the state hauled in over the past two years. The bills move next to the desk of Gov. John Bel Edwards, who put his stamp on the session by pushing for higher teacher pay and funding for early childhood education.

Support HB 548 (Rep. Blake Miguez with Iberia Medical Center)

In this video, Rep. Blake Miguez describes the importance of protecting 340B funding for rural healthcare access in his community with examples of local services that are made possible at Iberia Medical Center with this funding. “Big PhRMA’s attempt to eliminate these discounts would endanger lifesaving access in our community and potentially increase costs for local and state taxpayers,” said Rep. Miguez. “I support HB 548, which protects Louisiana’s healthcare providers so our friends and neighbors can receive lifesaving care close to home.”
