Kennedy statement on Israel, Netanyahu address

“Hamas is working with Iran, and Iran is hellbent on developing a nuclear weapon and pointing it at America and our allies. . . . America needs to keep supporting Israel as it destroys Hamas and working with Israel to defeat Tehran’s terrorism and its evil aspirations definitively. I’m thankful that Prime Minister Netanyahu came to join us in that effort today.”

WASHINGTON – Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) today released the following statement upon attending Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to Congress.

“Prime Minister Netanyahu’s speech was exceptional. Unfortunately, mere months after the October 7 massacre, some people in Washington still seem confused about why America supports Israel. Too many people—many of whom descended on the Capitol today—still apparently believe in diversity, equity, inclusion and the right to kill Jews. That bloodlust has never been—and will never be—what most Americans believe.

“Louisiana still understands that the debased people who slaughtered more than 300 young people at a peaceful music festival are the bad guys. The odious men who raped women next to the bodies of their dead friends don't deserve to be on this planet. The evil we saw unfold when Hamas butchered Israeli civilians is indefensible. And we all saw it.

“Hamas terrorists brutalized thousands of people, including Americans. Hamas is still holding eight Americans in Gaza. We believe five of our fellow citizens being held there are still alive. President Biden and Vice President Harris need to bring them home, and every day until then they need to condemn the Hamas terrorists who have murdered, kidnapped and abused our fellow Americans

“Israel has both the right and the responsibility to defend itself. This world will be a safer place for Americans and Israelis alike when Hamas ceases to exist.

“Let's not forget that Hamas are the wicked people who are using civilians as human shields. Hamas are the bloodthirsty people who dug up their people’s water pipes to turn them into rocket launchers.

“The truth is that the Palestinian people, the people of Gaza and the Israeli people all suffer because of Hamas. The truth is that Hamas brutalized Israeli citizens and then ran home to hide behind their women and children, using them as human shields.

“The only way to stop the cycle is to eliminate Hamas. Hamas doesn't want a permanent cease fire. After all, they had that on October 6. Hamas wants America, Israel and every decent person on earth to let them catch their breath so that they can reload and take aim again at innocent Americans and Israelis.

“Hamas is working with Iran, and Iran is hellbent on developing a nuclear weapon and pointing it at America and our allies. Iran is the author of chaotic, senseless suffering across the Middle East, and Tehran wants nothing more than to annihilate Israel and take its terrorism global. America needs to keep supporting Israel as it destroys Hamas and working with Israel to defeat Tehran’s terrorism and its evil aspirations definitively. I’m thankful that Prime Minister Netanyahu came to join us in that effort today.”

Kennedy: Biden must show world U.S. stands with Israel

As you may have seen, Sen. Kennedy spoke on the Senate floor about the need for Pres. Biden to stand with Israel.

You don't need to read a treatise on the Middle East to know that only monsters—monsters with black hearts—would put a baby in an oven and flip on the switch, as one first responder reported. That's not nuance. That’s evil.

Senate passes Kennedy-backed bipartisan resolution reaffirming U.S. support for Israel

“The rise in antisemitic and anti-Israel sentiments from members of Congress is disgraceful. Israel is a friend to America, and I am glad to see that so many lawmakers agree that there is no room for bigotry against Israelis or Jewish-Americans in the United States or our government.”

WASHINGTON – Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.), a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, today applauded the Senate’s passage of S. Con. Res. 14, a resolution to reaffirm the U.S.’s support for Israel.

“The rise in antisemitic and anti-Israel sentiments from members of Congress is disgraceful. Israel is a friend to America, and I am glad to see that so many lawmakers agree that there is no room for bigotry against Israelis or Jewish-Americans in the United States or our government,” said Kennedy.

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) led the resolution.

“I’m pleased that a bipartisan group of my colleagues supported this resolution upholding that Israel is not a racist state, that Congress rejects any form of antisemitism, and that America will always be a staunch supporter of Israel. It is unfortunate that Democrat attacks on Israel necessitated Congress passing this legislation,” said Cotton.

 The Senate resolved that:

  •  The State of Israel is not a racist or apartheid state.

  • Congress rejects all forms of antisemitism and xenophobia.

  • The U.S. will always be a staunch partner and supporter of Israel.

Sens. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), John Boozman (R-Ark.), Mike Braun (R-Ind.), Katie Britt (R-Ala.), Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), Ted Budd (R-N.C.), Shelley Moore Capito (R-W. Va.), Bob Casey (D-Pa.), Bill Cassidy (R-La.), John Cornyn (R-Texas), Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.), Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Steve Daines (R-Mont.), Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.), John Hoeven (R-N.D.), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.), Jerry Moran (R-Kan.), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Eric Schmitt (R-Mo.), Rick Scott (R-Fla.), Tim Scott (R-S.C.), Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska), Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) and J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) also cosigned this resolution.

Several members of the House of Representatives sent President Obama the below letter yesterday indicating their request for side agreements between the administration and the Iranian government in regards to the nuclear deal that was pushed through by Obama.  The text of the letter is below and the full letter with the signatories can be found at the below link.

Mr. President:

It has come to our attention that during the recent negotiation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) with Iran, at least two side deals were made between the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Iran. These side deals, concerning the “roadmap for the clarification of past and present outstanding issues regarding Iran’s nuclear programs,” have not been made available to the United States Congress. One deal covers the Parchin military complex and the other covers prior military dimensions (PMDs) of Iran's nuclear program.

This is no small matter.  As you yourself have made clear, the agreement is “not based on trust, but on verification.”  The issue of how we will verify that Iran is being truthful about its activities at potential nuclear sites will determine whether the JCPOA can ultimately succeed.

Under the clear language of the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act, which you signed into law, members of Congress are entitled to the text of these two side deals.  Specifically, members have a right to all “annexes, appendices, codicils, side agreements, implementing materials, documents, and guidance, technical or other understandings and any related agreements, whether entered into or implemented prior to the agreement or to be entered into or implemented in the future.”  Congress’s legal right to these documents creates a corresponding legal obligation for your administration to provide them for our review.

The JCPOA with Iran is a matter of immense importance to the immediate and long-term security of the United States.  Members of Congress have the right and the duty to review every relevant document, every term, and every word of this agreement in order to make an informed decision about whether or not it merits our support.

We request that you provide the text of these side deals to Congress as expeditiously as possible.  If you do not possess these documents, we request that you immediately secure them from the IAEA and then provide them to Congress.  We look forward to your quick reply.
